List the access methods actually supplied
Inventory physical keys, cards or other authorised devices only where they are part of the candidate's equipment. Test each independently, following the applicable instructions and keeping other devices out of detection range. Record missing or unreliable items rather than calling the set complete from a photograph. Use the A06 identity and trim guide to keep equipment claims tied to the right vehicle. A decorative key cover or an app icon is not evidence of a working authorised access method.
Separate ownership accounts from ordinary pairing
Bluetooth pairing, an infotainment user profile and an ownership-linked remote account may perform different roles. Ask the relevant provider which transfer or unlinking procedure applies to the fitted system. The legitimate owner should complete it with the required authority and documentation. Do not request or retain the previous owner's password. A factory reset may remove local data without resolving a remote ownership link, so obtain confirmation of what was actually changed rather than assuming one button clears every relationship.
Verify essential functions without the seller nearby
Within a safe controlled handover, confirm that the buyer's supplied access devices work without relying on the seller's phone or another key. Follow the normal instructions for locking, unlocking and starting. Do not improvise a lockout experiment or leave someone trapped in the vehicle. Ask how supported emergency access works and retain the relevant manual. The low-voltage battery and wake-up checks address a separate possible cause of access problems; not every failure is an account issue.
Check overseas service availability directly
Connected services can depend on account region, communication hardware, subscriptions and provider coverage. Ask the responsible service provider about the exact vehicle and destination. Record the response and distinguish confirmed availability from an unanswered request. A successful demonstration in China does not guarantee the same result abroad. If a remote function is essential to the buyer, make it a purchase condition rather than an assumed convenience. Do not promise that translation, a different SIM or unofficial software will legitimately unlock unsupported features.
Remove personal data through the supported process
Before dispatch, remove paired phones, stored destinations and other personal information according to the system instructions. Keep only the minimum completion evidence needed for the handover; do not copy private messages or contact lists into the vehicle file. Ask whether any separately linked service needs its own removal procedure. The software and assistance review should preserve vehicle configuration information without preserving a former user's private content. Deleting local data must not become an excuse to erase diagnostic evidence needed for an unresolved fault.
Document the final access and support boundary
The handover inventory should name tested devices, completed account steps, offline operating instructions and any service not confirmed for the destination. If a replacement device is needed, identify the legitimate provider, cost and evidence of successful setup. Include the access inventory in the dispatch record so a missing item can be traced. A buyer can knowingly accept limited online features, but should not discover after arrival that essential access depends on another person's account or an unsupported region-specific process.
Example: a seller unlocks the car only by phone
A demonstration looks convenient, but the seller cannot show an independently working supplied key. Ask for the candidate's correct access specification and a complete supported handover before accepting the car. If physical access is restored, still resolve the account separately. If the buyer intends to operate without online services, confirm that this is supported for the actual system rather than assuming it from another model. A successful remote unlock answers only one part of the ownership question.
Buyer checklist
- Test supplied access devices individually.
- Use authorised transfer, not shared passwords.
- Confirm essential operation independently of the seller.
- State overseas online-service limitations in the handover.
Questions and answers
Does resetting the screen remove every ownership link?
Not necessarily. Local data removal and remote account transfer may be separate processes. Ask the provider what applies.
Can I rely on the seller’s app demonstration overseas?
No. Confirm service availability and transfer conditions for the actual vehicle and destination.
