Identify the installed equipment first
Record the VIN, production period, powertrain, physical inlet and supplied cable labels before testing. Use the powertrain identification record and destination compatibility guide to determine what equipment is appropriate. The official NEVO overview establishes A06 model context but does not identify every connector or production configuration. Photograph the actual candidate instead of borrowing another model's inlet image. Ask the inspector which charging modes can be tested with the available equipment and which remain unverified. If the seller changes the candidate or cable, repeat the relevant identification rather than copying approval from the original offer.
Inspect accessible condition without intrusive work
Have the qualified inspector examine the inlet housing, cover, accessible seals, mounting and visible contact area using the applicable safe procedure. Record cracks, contamination, discolouration, moisture, loose fittings or signs of undocumented repair without assuming a cause from appearance alone. Do not insert tools into contacts, apply an improvised cleaner or dismantle the charging assembly as a buyer demonstration. Relate suspicious impact or repair evidence to the structure and water-damage review. The resulting report should separate an observed mark, a confirmed defect and an item requiring further diagnosis; these are not equivalent findings.
Demonstrate connection and release normally
Use the correct compatible connector and the manufacturer's permitted sequence. Record whether the cable engages, whether the vehicle recognises it and whether normal release works after the session has safely ended. Identify any fitted lock or retention behaviour through the applicable instructions rather than declaring that every A06 uses the same mechanism. Do not pull against a retained connector or use an emergency release as a routine workaround. If release or connection is unreliable, stop and seek competent diagnosis. A successful single movement is limited evidence; ask whether repeated normal operation confirms a consistent result without forcing or bypassing components.
Document a complete supported charging session
Record charger identity and rating, starting indication, ambient conditions, session duration, energy information where available, warnings and any interruption. A dashboard animation or a photograph of the connected cable does not establish sustained charging. Keep equipment limitations explicit: an AC test does not confirm DC performance, and a low-powered unit cannot demonstrate the vehicle's advertised peak capability. Link thermal or power questions to the fast-charging and thermal assessment. The test should explain what happened on this vehicle and equipment, not turn one successful local session into a guarantee for every destination charger.
Separate vehicle, cable and charger causes
An interrupted session can involve the charger, cable, communication, electrical supply or the vehicle. Preserve the warnings and test context before asking a qualified person to isolate the source using an appropriate method. Do not diagnose a battery fault from one failed public charging attempt or promise that a new cable will solve every symptom. Use the battery assessment when battery evidence is relevant, and retain the actual charging fault separately. If an alternative known-compatible charger is used, document that change. A repeated result under comparable conditions is stronger evidence than an edited video of only the successful attempt.
Consider weather and destination use
For outdoor use, ask about the applicable storage and connector-care instructions and the local installation environment. General winter EV guidance notes that connectors can freeze in adverse weather; it does not establish that this A06 has a heated inlet or a particular protection feature. Use the cold-weather review for a freezing destination. Have the local charging provider confirm the equipment and permitted connection route. An adapter's physical fit does not settle protocol, electrical limits or safe use. Price only a supported solution and keep any unresolved destination compatibility separate from the local hardware condition finding.
Agree repair evidence before acceptance
If work is needed, obtain diagnosis, scope, responsible workshop and completion tests before deciding whether the candidate remains suitable. Confirm parts fitment through the VIN-based parts inquiry rather than a generic A06 listing. Require the repaired assembly to complete the relevant normal-operation and charging tests; an invoice alone does not demonstrate the result. Record included cables and the accepted condition at loading using the shipping handover record. For example, a candidate that charges but cannot release reliably remains an unresolved ownership problem, not an acceptable vehicle merely because the traction battery appears healthy.
Buyer checklist
- VIN and inlet identified
- Accessible damage recorded safely
- Normal locking and release demonstrated
- Supported session documented
- Warnings and equipment context retained
- Repair and destination limits resolved
Buyer questions
Does a connected plug prove the A06 charges correctly?
No. Document a supported session and any interruptions, warnings or limitations. A photograph alone is not a sustained charging test.
Should I force a connector that will not release?
No. Follow the applicable instructions and seek qualified assistance. Do not bypass the locking or safety system.
Can one failed charger prove a battery defect?
No. Charger, cable, supply, communication and vehicle causes must be separated through competent assessment.
